A lyric video for a Spotify release

Spotify is where people stream your single, and YouTube is where they watch it. A lyric video covers the second half, and gives you a link that leads back to the first.

Text description of this video

A lyric video in three colourful worlds: a rainbow sky with clouds, a purple sunset over waves, and a burst of blue and teal rays. The words appear with the singing in large letters, and on the peak words the letters gather out of small particles. Small drawings sit beside the words they belong to: keys, a flower pot, a cat, a peach, shoes. An equalizer moves along the bottom edge. The song's audio plays with the video.

How the two work together

  • Your distributor puts the audio on Spotify and the other streaming services.
  • Your lyric video goes on your YouTube channel and your website.
  • The video description links to your Spotify page, so viewers can save the song.

Is it a Canvas?

No. A Canvas is a short vertical loop behind a track in the Spotify app. Lyriclip does not make one. It makes a widescreen video of the full song. They do different jobs, and our Canvas guide explains the difference.

Can it go on Spotify itself?

Spotify has its own rules for video and changes them, so check Spotify for Artists. YouTube is the usual home for a lyric video.

Use the same audio

Make the video from the same master that you send to your distributor, so that the two versions match.

What you get

The full song as one 16:9 widescreen video in 1080p, with no watermark, for $29 per song, after a free preview of 12 to 15 seconds.

Questions

Does the video have to come out on the same day as the song?

No. Many artists choose release day, but it is your choice. See the guide on timing.

Does Lyriclip connect to my Spotify account?

No. You upload the audio file and paste the lyrics yourself.

Does Lyriclip put my song on Spotify?

No. Lyriclip is not a distributor. It makes the video.
