When to release a lyric video
There is no single right date. It depends on what else you have planned for the song. Here are the usual options.

Text description of this video
A lyric video in three colourful worlds: a rainbow sky with clouds, a purple sunset over waves, and a burst of blue and teal rays. The words appear with the singing in large letters, and on the peak words the letters gather out of small particles. Small drawings sit beside the words they belong to: keys, a flower pot, a cat, a peach, shoes. An equalizer moves along the bottom edge. The song's audio plays with the video.
On release day
This is the simple choice, and the usual one when the lyric video is the only video. The song and the video come out together, and everything you post can point at both.
After the release
If you have other content for release day, a lyric video can give the song a second moment later on. It also works for an older song that never had a video.
Before the release
Some artists use a lyric video to premiere a song on YouTube before it reaches the streaming services. If you do this, make sure that the song and the video use the same final master.
With a music video
If you also have a music video, you can decide which one comes first. A lyric video first can hold attention while the bigger video is finished.
Older songs count
A song released years ago can still get a lyric video, if you own or control it. The process is the same: upload, preview, and pay only if you want the full video.
